Terms, refunds and revisions
Written to be read, not to hide behind. If anything here is unclear, ask before you buy and we will put the answer in writing.
1 credit = 1 person
One credit is $69, or 11 credits for $690. Credits never expire.
Paid upfront
Credits are prepaid by card. We do not invoice on terms or extend credit.
Tweaks are free
Unlimited small adjustments to the likeness of a drawing we have already made.
A new photo is a new credit
New reference, new angle or a different person means starting again.
Revisions
Small adjustments to a portrait we have already drawn are unlimited and free, for as long as you own the portrait. A request that means starting the drawing again uses another credit. The line is the reference photo: if we can fix it without redrawing from scratch, it is free.
Free, as many as you like
- Hair colour, length or style
- Clothing colour or swapping the top
- Glasses on or off
- Facial hair added or removed
- Skin tone correction
- Background mat colour
- Crop, framing and export sizes
- Fixing anything we got wrong
Uses another credit
- A different reference photo
- A different head angle or pose
- A different person
- Changing the team style after drawing starts
- A second version of the same person
- Redrawing from a photo you replaced
- Anything that starts the drawing again
If we have to start the drawing again, that is a new credit.
Refunds
Unused credits are refundable. Drawn portraits are not, because an illustrator has already been paid for the work. Unlimited free revisions exist so that a portrait you are unhappy with gets fixed rather than refunded.
Credits you never used
Yes, in full
Ask any time within 90 days of purchase. After that, unused credits stay on your account and never expire, but they are no longer refundable.
A photo you already uploaded
No
Uploading a photo uses the credit, and it cannot be undone. If we find the photo unusable, we ask for another and it uses the same credit.
We missed the delivery window
Yes, that credit
If we are late against the window quoted at checkout, that credit is refunded and you keep the portrait.
Portrait already drawn and delivered
No
We fix it instead. Unlimited free revisions, for as long as you own it.
You changed your mind about the style
No
The style is confirmed before drawing starts. Redrawing to a new style uses a new credit.
What we need from you
We draw from the photo you send. A poor reference produces a poor portrait, and redrawing from a better photo uses a new credit, so it is worth thirty seconds of checking before you upload.
A good reference
- One person, facing the camera
- Face clearly visible and in focus
- At least 600px across the face
- Even light, no heavy shadow
- Shoulders in frame
- Taken in the last two years
We will ask again if
- More than one person is in it
- The face is turned away or cropped
- It is heavily filtered or blurred
- Sunglasses or a mask hide the face
- It is a screenshot of a screenshot
- Resolution is too low to read features
Your responsibility
You confirm you have permission from each person to send us their photo and to use their portrait. We do not contact your team, and we cannot verify consent on your behalf.
the moment you upload a photo, and it cannot be undone. If a reference is unusable we tell you, and the photo you send instead uses the same credit.
Delivery and the queue
- The clock starts at the photo
- Delivery windows run from the day we accept a usable reference photo, not the day you bought credits.
- First come, first served
- Portraits are drawn in the order photos arrive. Every order gets the same turnaround.
- Big orders arrive in batches
- Orders above 15 credits are delivered in batches as they are finished, so you can start using them early.
- Working days only
- Windows are quoted in working days and exclude weekends and public holidays.
The rest of the terms
- Credits
- Credits cost $69 each. There are no discounts and no card surcharge.
- Ownership
- You own full commercial rights to every portrait we deliver, worldwide and with no time limit. Use them on your site, in decks, in ads, anywhere. We never show your portraits publicly unless you give us written permission.
- Your photos
- Reference photos are deleted 30 days after the avatar is delivered, and every deletion is logged. Ask and we delete them sooner. They are never used to train a model and never sold or shared. A copy of your finished portraits stays in your account so you can download them again.
- What we measure
- We count pages and clicks, and we record how visitors move through our pages, so we can see where an order gets stuck and fix it. Everything you type is hidden from those recordings, and so are your name and email. Your photos and avatars are never part of them, and on your account page they show which buttons were pressed, never the names or details on the page.
- How we draw
- Every portrait is drawn by a person, start to finish. A portrait is an interpretation in our house style, not a photographic likeness, and small stylistic differences from the photo are the point.
- What we will not draw
- Anyone under 18, public figures you have no relationship with, and anything hateful, defamatory or unlawful. We refund the credit in full and cancel the request.
- Liability and changes
- Our liability is limited to the value of the credits you bought. These terms may change, and the version that applies to your order is the one published on the day you paid. Anything not covered here, ask us and we will answer in writing.
Matching clothing style is $15 a person, $375 for 25, and is chosen before we draw. Source files, the layered Adobe Photoshop (.psd) artwork, are $29 a person, $725 for 25, chosen at checkout or added later in your account. They are not refundable once delivered. Background colour and crop shape are included in every credit and can be changed at any time in your account at no cost.
